    Karen Murray: Junior Explorers/Pathfinders Teacher

Karen loves to learn and discover new things! She has been involved in education in various ways throughout her adult life. She has taught students in private schools from preschool through high school, as well as a homeschool mom of two sons.

While her sons were growing up and being homeschooled, she moved into part-time involvement in church preschool programs. With her sons now productive adults, she is excited to be back in the classroom exploring the world with students through creative and engaging activities while opening up opportunities for kids to develop their skills and build connections with others.

    Amy Sachs: Junior Explorers/Trailblazers Teacher

Amy grew up in Southern California where she met and married her high school sweetheart, David. They moved to Northern California in 1998 to be closer to family and enjoy a slower pace.

Following a 15 year career in the health and fitness industry, Amy started a business teaching Gymnastics & Dance to young children and returned to school to earn her B.A. Degree in Child Development from CSUS. Through her schooling, she became intrigued by the development of the young brain, especially in the areas of social and emotional growth, which inspired her to begin teaching an all day homeschool enrichment class for Kinders.

Amy and David homeschooled their only daughter, Rachel, for four years and recalls those years as being some of the best years of their lives!

    Kerstin Leidorfer: Discovery Makers Teacher

Originally from Austria, Ms. Kerstin is a proud homeschooling mom of three with over 20 years of teaching and childcare experience across six countries. In 2017, she opened her own in-home preschool, combining hands-on learning with a warm, nurturing environment. This allowed her to stay home with her children while sharing her passion for teaching with other families.

As her children grew older, she sought out learning opportunities they could enjoy together. In 2023, she expanded her offerings to include an after-school program for 8–10 year olds, featuring homework support, tutoring, and student-led activities in art, science, field trips, and more.

Ms. Kerstin holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s in Childhood and Youth Studies. She is thrilled to join The Treehouse team as our Discovery Makers teacher, guiding and inspiring our 9–10 year old students through engaging, hands-on learning adventures!
